Kirk loves rock music. He was once asked how he can paint. . . Um. . . let's start over in first person. Someone once asked me how I can paint spiritual themes while I'm blasting rock music. I think rock music can be as inspiring as classical music, and it certainly helps the work go faster. Some of my all time favorite artists include Peter Gabriel, Coldplay, U2, Annie Lennox, Sarah McLachlan, Tori Amos, Sting, and Howard Jones.I was raised on classical music. I played the French Horn and Piano. I quickly grew tired of offbeats and sitting through endless rehearsals for only ten seconds of exquisite orchestral solos, and so I haven't played much of the French Horn lately. My mother was sad when I gave up the French Horn, because I had become a sort of child prodigy in my own small way. (Maybe one day I will play the guitar as well as I once played the French Horn.) I began my first recording project in 2002, while living in Nashville. Recording was a strange new world for me, but I jumped in, blindly excited to produce something comparable to Sting's Soul Cages. I quickly found out that I'm not Sting, but that recording is exhilarating anyway. I DID succeed in producing a concept album with eleven tracks called Granted. You can read more about that album by clicking here.Having finished one recording project, and not having a band per se, I became engaged in finding an interesting way to present my songs. I started making music videos. This has become as fun for me as music-making itself. You can watch those music videos by clicking here. As of this moment, I am about to finish my second recording project, entitled Somewhere Along the Line. On this album, I have favored the song over the idea. It is not a concept album, but rather a collection of eleven songs that I think you are really going to like. You can read more about the album by clicking here. We have begun doing some live performing. Click here to find out more about that. My next recording projects include a soundtrack to a short animated film of my children's book, I'll Be There With Belzon, and also a third album which will not be rock, but will be a Christmas album of sacred music.
